SURELY IMPRISONE A NOSE
Re: EDITORIAL: ‘Safe’ prison snooping consent of defeat, online, Sept. 28.

Unfortunately, because of “progressive governments”, the inmates now run mainly Canadian prisons. Everything today is about making prisoners comfortable rather than punishing them for committing serious crimes. So, of course, they need to be able to safely snort their coke. This while their crime victims suffer in silence.
With drones in use today, gone are the days when visitors had to smuggle drugs secreted in body cavities. Now they can easily be jailed, which means a ready supply of drugs is always available. Is it any wonder that recidivism is a huge problem because criminals are no longer afraid to return to a Canadian prison?
You have to pity prison guards who have to deal with prisoners who have more rights than them, plus get stoned on the drug of their choice.
This is all part of the decade-plus Trudeau-Carney soft-on-crime, farcical, revolving-door justice system.

IDIOTIC INVASION GAME
Steve Nease’s Sept. 25 cartoon showing a Canadian federal agent returning a firearm with the caption, “As the first line of defense in the event of an invasion, we’ll temporarily return your gun,” perfectly showed the idiocy of this whole PR stunt.

The funny part is that, if Canada actually came under fire, it wouldn’t be the Starbucks crowd, the woke people, women’s groups or those living in the core of the city who would be the first line of defense, it would be the whole group relentlessly attacked by bureaucrats to score political points.
