Police have confirmed that a man’s body was recovered from the water in the Cleethorpes area yesterday. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of all emergency services.

The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance landed on the beach area near Humberston Fitties. Humberside Police cordoned off the area after the alarm was raised at around 2pm.

The Anthony’s Bank car park was cordoned off to allow rescuers to get close to the breach. The RNLI’s Cleethorpes lifeboat was on the scene within minutes, along with the Humber Coastguard and East Midlands Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “Officers were called to reports of a body being recovered from the water at Cleethorpes beach at around 2pm yesterday afternoon. Emergency services attended but despite the efforts of medical professionals, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed. They are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.”

An RNLI spokesman said: “The Cleethorpes lifeboat was called when a person was reported in the water at Humberston. We have provided our support. Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died.”

Evidence was gathered for a report for the Greater Lincolnshire Coroner, Laurinda Bower.
