The world’s first Minecraft hotel is set to open in London in 2027.
The hotel will open next to the theme parkland inspired by the bestselling video game of all time.
Minecraft World will open at Chessington World of Adventures in South West London and will also boast the world’s first Minecraft-themed roller coaster, as well as themed shops and eateries.
Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, the company behind Minecraft, revealed the project on Saturday.
What do we know about Minecraft World Hotel?
Minecraft World Hotel allows fans to experience the game in real life with an underwater-themed restaurant, and a bar inspired by the game’s Woodland Mansion.
The hotel over four floors counts 20 premium and 49 standard rooms, and tries to recreate some of the game’s most popular biomes, mobs and items – including blocked trees and animals, as well as elevators and mine tunnel corridors.
What else is being built?
The developers have also released footage of the theme parkland taking shape following its announcement earlier this year, with tracks now in place for the first Minecraft roller coaster, Escape The Nether.
The coaster treats guests to a high-speed indoor ride through dark mines before exiting the building through a nether portal into the Overworld themed area of the land.
The £50 million project is a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments, the owner of Legoland, Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, and Mojang Studios.
Daisy Mercedes, creative producer at Merlin Entertainments, said: “We promised something really special when we announced Minecraft World earlier this year, and with Minecraft World Hotel we’re delivering even more.
“Not only will fans be able to experience the game as it is imagined to be true to life, but they can also sleep inside, ensuring that fans get back exactly where they want to be!
“Seeing the Minecraft World Hotel alongside the attractions we’re building at Chessington World of Adventures theme park is a Minecraft fan’s biggest dream.
“Every room, corridor and detail was made with immense love for this game, the stories in the community and its community.”

‘Fascinating creative challenge’
Filip Keatley Thoms, creative lead for Minecraft Parks and Experiences at Mojang Studios, added: “Bringing Minecraft to a whole new medium has been a fascinating creative challenge.
“We thought about everything from the scale of the blocks to how mobs and biomes live in the real world.
“Our goal is to create an experience that feels authentically Minecraft and gives guests the chance to experience the game in a whole new way.”
Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, with millions of people playing it every day.
The block-building video game was previously adapted into a film called A Minecraft Movie, which was the highest-grossing film at the box office in Luxembourg and Ireland in 2025.
