Each glamping pod could have a hot tub with it
A Cambridgeshire farm wants to add glamping pods with hot tubs to its site. Manor Farm in Thornhaugh, Peterborough is seeking permission to convert land adjacent to 16 Russell Hill into a “small-scale glamping development”.
Glampitect produced the application on behalf of the farm. The applicant wants to add four glamping pods to the land, with decking and a hot tub accompanying each pod. New internal access, parking, landscaping and associated works are also proposed.
The farmers want to diversify by introducing a “tourism-related use that will further support the viability of the holding and contribute positively to the local economy”.
The applicant added: “The development is deliberately limited in scale, with only four units proposed, which reflects the capacity of the site and aligns with policy objectives which support small-scale visitor accommodation in sustainable rural locations where impacts are appropriately managed.”
The farm is between Wittering and Wansford, but is close to Peterborough. Being so close to the city the site offers a wide range of shops, services, restaurants and visitor facilities close by which the applicant says will “support short stay tourism”.
The applicant said: “The proposed site offers an appropriate balance between tranquility and accessibility, well located for visitors seeking a rural nature-based retreat, with easy access to country walks, woodland, nearby villages, and attractions in and around Peterborough.”
The applicant also believes that adding a glamping attraction to the farm will respond to the “demand for high quality glamping accommodation” in the UK.
They added: “The proposal responds to this demand through the provision of four carefully designed glamping pods that offer a premium rural retreat whilst remaining sensitive to the character of the landscape.”
The pods are offered for year-round use and are rented out on a per-night basis. The applicants believe that the site is used by couples and small families.
