With about eight hours left of Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days, there’s still time to save on a Kindle before the October Prime Day sale closes at 11.59pm tonight. And, thankfully, some of the discounts I’ve been watching haven’t disappeared yet.
At the more affordable end, the standard Amazon Kindle remains less than £100 (was £149.99, now £94.99, Amazon.co.uk). If you want something that can double as a digital notebook, the premium Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is still nearly £190 off (was £629.99, now £439.99, Amazon.co.uk ), complete with a stylus for writing, annotating and sketching.
You can also pair your new e-reader with a 30-day free trial of Kindle Unlimited. Below, I’ve kept tabs on every Kindle deal that still warrants some excitement before things expire later tonight.

Amazon Kindle Writer Colorsoft
The Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is the first color Kindle. Tech expert Thomas Deehan tested the black-and-white version in his review of the best e-readers: “For those who just need to have a pen handy when reading through a novel, the Kindle Scribe is simply the best option to go because the included stylus wonderfully recreates the feeling of writing on a page,” said Thomas. There’s also a huge library of paper types to write on – from plain and lined paper to planners, to-do lists and diaries.
All of this comes at a price, however, with the device usually costing more than an entry-level iPad. So a discount of almost 40 percent before Prime Day is welcome news.

Kindle, the newest generation
Already the cheapest Kindle Amazon produces, this model was discounted by 37 percent ahead of Amazon’s October Prime Day sale. In tech critic Steve Hogarty’s guide to the best Kindles, he found that the standard Kindle offers “everything you need in a modern, no-frills ereader.” He wrote that the device has “a decently sharp, 6in, 300dpi e-ink display; about six weeks of battery life; USB-C charging; front lighting with LEDs; and about 12GB of usable storage”.
Compared to more expensive Kindles, the lighting is stark blue-white when reading in the dark, rather than a warm amber, but if you’re looking for a basic Kindle, this deal is worth snapping up.

Kindle Colorsoft
With this seriously impressive Pre-Prime Day deal, the Kindle Coloursoft, which is the full-colour version of the Kindle, has been reduced in price by a massive 44 per cent – that’s a discount of £115. The Coloursoft adds a vibrant vibrancy to your favorite books and magazines. The e-ink display screen is glare-free and has an automatically adjusting front light. The device is also waterproof, making it perfect for reading by the pool, and it can last up to eight weeks on a single charge.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Kids (newest gen)
Reduced by 36 per cent before Prime Day, the Kindle Paperwhite Kids offers parents the chance to save more than £75 this Prime Day. In tech expert Steve Hogarty’s guide to the best Kindles, he detailed all the advantages of the device, describing how “Parental controls let you curate the libraries of up to four mini readers; view their progress; adjust age filters, and set a device bedtime”.

Kindle Kids (newest gen)
The Kindle Kids comes with a durable cover and a six-month Amazon Kids+ subscription for access to more than a thousand children’s titles. Amazon says the content is curated by age group, and there’s a parent dashboard to help you track their reading progress, add titles, and more. It’s said to be light enough to read one-handed, while a single charge should last up to six weeks.
