Michael Carrick was pushed closer to the brink as Man Utd lost 3-0 to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.
Michael Carrick arrived at Carrington to watch Manchester United’s Under-21s in action as the club boss continues to hold talks over his future.
United’s Under-21s play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Hull City on Monday afternoon and Carrick is set to feature. He arrived at the training ground around 1:50 p.m.
Carrick will watch the U21s in a friendly, while Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox will monitor his future. Both Berrada and Wilcox are in Carrington after reporting to the training ground this morning for crisis talks.
United’s board debated whether to sack Carrick after a heavy 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth, which means United have now gone eight games without a win across all competitions.
When Carrick was asked if he would be sacked after losing at Bournemouth, he said: “I completely understand the situation. I don’t expect anything in particular to be honest.
“To carry on as normal, and you know, I love this place. I’ll always do what I think is best for the football club, whatever decision is made about anything, really. So that’s it. I don’t expect anything either way.

“I take responsibility. Of course I take responsibility. I said it, and I take responsibility. Whatever happens result-wise, whether we win, we lose, draws, whatever happens throughout the whole football club, I’m in this position because I respect the position I’m in, and the responsibility is mine. What else can I say, really, now?”
The United boss welcomed the Stretford End but clarified during an interview with Sky Sports that it was not goodbye.
Eddie Howe, Unai Emery, Antonio Conte and Julian Nagelsmann have all been named as possible replacements for Carrick. Former Newcastle manager Howe, who left the Magpies over the summer, is believed to be Wilcox’s preferred option.
