Uniqlo x JW Anderson makes a case for winter lace

Huge news for anyone who’s always dreamed of dressing like an Animal Crossing character (albeit a particularly brave one) – Uniqlo x JW Anderson has arrived for Fall 2026.

The collection is stunningly preppy, whimsical, and a little adorable. Oh, and totally unisex. The beauty of the ongoing collaboration between Uniqlo and Jonathan Anderson’s eponymous label is that there is always a rock-themed theme.

Where SS26’s collection was dedicated to bringing prep kicking and screaming into the 2020s from its naughties origins, AW26 evolves the concept, taking the academy into a more playful setting, while acknowledging the vintage motifs of its roots.

Under the title ‘Stage Notes’, this collection not only celebrates collegial iconography, but – in its own words – “the spontaneity of artistic expression”. Conjuring the peppy excitement of a flood to the theatre, Stage Notes aims for all the excitement and fantastic impulsivity of a school play, a feeling we adults have almost lost.

Enough of my eulogizing, though, let’s get to the heart of the collection. I have worked in fashion my entire career, and am therefore more than qualified to pick out the best from this seasonal selection; scroll on for my favorites.

I have a lot of time for a silly little knitting. Whether worn solo or layered, this cashmere crew-neck vest takes the argyle trend in a new, pastel way, and I’m instantly drawn to it.

When I was first released into the Uniqlo showroom, I was quickly drawn into the orbit of this brushed wool blouson jacket in all its boxy glory. Swapping fall’s usual saturation for something cooler, this pick is played up by its blue/brown check design, while the lightweight nature of the piece makes it easy to throw on and off through the changeable temperatures of a fall day.

By now, you will no doubt be aware of the infame of a Uniqlo x JW Anderson shirt; cropped, boxy, and available in almost every color and print across the seasons, the shirt has become an icon of collaboration. New for this season, however, Uniqlo x JWA have released a more pajama-inspired take on their iconic shirt, constructed from soft flannel with a spread collar and checked pattern.

Accented by JW Anderson logo buttons, these straight leg work pants are deliciously utilitarian and dangerously comfortable. Oh, and there are four colors to choose from. Win-win.
