Tulleys Farm covers 100 acres with 1.5m pumpkins

Tulleys Farm in West Sussex has transformed more than 100 acres of land into an illuminated wonderland for its Pumpkin Nights event, with a glowing woodland path, live music, street theatre, food and bars, and dozens of installations designed to be experienced after dark.

Stuart Beare, owner of Tulleys Farm, said: “When darkness falls you almost feel like you are opening a completely different event.

“You can spend months seeing these areas built and planted in daylight, but there is a moment when all the lights come on and suddenly the whole farm changes.

“This is the first year for Pumpkin Valley at night and seeing it lit up for the first time was quite a moment for us.

“When we started growing pumpkins, families came to the farm to pick one to take home.

“We could never have imagined that years later we would light up more than 100 hectares and welcome people who want to spend their entire evening here.”

More than 100 varieties of squash and pumpkins are on display, grown from approximately 600,000 seeds.

The nighttime experience includes a glowing forest path filled with lighting installations, holograms and water effects.

At the center of this year’s event is the newly created Pumpkin Valley, the largest expansion in the history of Tulleys’ Pumpkin Festival.

The valley features streams, ponds, wooden bridges, winding paths, giant pumpkin sculptures, and a Pumpkin Farm House – all illuminated for the first time this season.

While pumpkin picking remains popular, Tulleys has seen more visitors stay for the evening’s entertainment, including families, couples and groups of friends.

Two undercover stages host live music, and there are street food vendors, bars and coffee houses throughout the site.

Visitors can also enjoy a vintage carousel, explore Pumpkin Village, and take in views from a 33-meter observation wheel.

More than 30 engaging photo installations have been set up throughout the festival.

Tulleys Farm is a fourth generation family business run by the Beare family.

The farm has grown its pumpkin event into what it calls Europe’s biggest pumpkin festival, attracting visitors from across the UK and overseas.

The farm recorded its highest opening day attendance when the daylong festival was launched on September 19.

Pumpkin Nights began on September 26 and will run on select evenings throughout October.

Both the Day Tulleys Pumpkin Festival and Pumpkin Nights are separately ticketed events.

The Pumpkin Festival continues until October 31, while Pumpkin Nights take place on selected evenings during the same period.
