The six-part series was released in the UK last month after first premiering in Japan in 2025
A psychological thriller called “haunting beyond belief” was crowned one of the “best shows ever”.
Netflix subscribers are just discovering a six-part limited series that premiered in the UK last month, but it’s one they can’t stop thinking about. The mystery drama series follows six struggling individuals who are faced with a crisis of some kind. Each person then meets a strange and mysterious man who changes himself to blend into their lives.
Titled ‘Sai’, which means disaster in Japanese, the series has an English dub as it has been marked as a must watch for all Netflix subscribers. A synopsis states: “Six struggling people each meet the same enigmatic man in different guises. Each meeting unleashes a unique disaster as the series unfolds.”
Taking to Reddit recently, a Netflix subscriber said that the streaming giant recently recommended the limited series so they started watching it “out of curiosity.” They added: “By the third episode I was very surprised by the murders.
“I’m currently on the fourth episode, with only the last two left to go. Netflix didn’t suggest this title to me last year; has anyone here watched it and enjoyed it *SAI?”
One person responded that it was an “amazing show, don’t miss it,” while another commented that they “loved the show,” adding, “Everything made me anxious and involved.”

A third added: “Yes, more people need to talk about this show. Great acting, great music, it’s atmospheric, slow burn and the pressure and fear build and build to tragedy.
“I also like that most episodes spend a lot of time showing the less sanitized sides of Japanese society and the constant struggle of ordinary people, which is just as terrifying as the ‘Sai’ in the show.”
A fourth “binged watched it” as a fifth echoed: “This one was haunting beyond belief. The schoolgirl who dreams of being an architect hit me so hard in a way that almost zero shows/movies can achieve. This show had and still has me questioning what was even real. I need more content than this!!!
Another simply wrote: “It was the breaks that made me nervous and the score was amazing!” In an earlier Reddit post last month, a user admitted: “This is easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Rarely has a miniseries (or a series for that matter) left such a mark on me after I finished it. And I’m still moved.”
Sai can be streamed on Netflix
