Emergency services were called to Rottingdean beach at around 9.40am today, October 11, following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.
Police have confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene and investigations are ongoing.
A cordon remains in place across a section of the beach and the Undercliff footpath.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “At around 9.40am on Sunday (October 11), officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a man who was seen at the water’s edge on Rottingdean beach.
“The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, and inquiries are continuing to establish his identity and the circumstances of how he ended up in the water.
“Emergency services continue to work in the area, and no further information is available at this time.”
