Aaron Richards and his dog Merlin were both killed when their Audi collided with a parked car
A man who died with his dog after a road accident was a “kind, loving and remarkable young man who brought happiness to everyone around him”, his family said.
Aaron Richards, also known as Archie, and his “beloved” dog Merlin died after the Audi A5 they were traveling in was involved in a collision with a parked Peugeot 2008 between Llyswen and Llansteffan in Powys, Mid Wales, on October 3.
The 32-year-old from Builth Wells was a qualified carpenter who was looking forward to starting a new job, with his family saying he had so much to look forward to. They described his death as “devastating”. “The pain of losing him is impossible to put into words, and our lives will never be the same without him,” they said, reports WalesOnline.
In a tribute shared by Dyfed-Powys Police, Aaron was described as a much-loved son, grandson, brother and friend who leaves behind his mother, Josie, his brother Alex, his sister Megan, Howard, his father Nick, his stepmother Tina and his brother Liam, as well as his extended family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
They said: “Aaron was a wonderful young man who was loved by so many people. He had a warm, friendly and infectious personality, and his kindness and big heart made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.”
“He lived a full and happy life during his 32 years and achieved so much, but it felt like he was just getting started. He had so much to look forward to, which makes his loss all the more heartbreaking.
“Aaron was an extremely skilled carpenter who took great pride in his work. He was looking forward to starting a new job and had so much more to offer.
“He loved nothing more than having a drink with his friends and enjoying a game of pool. These simple moments brought him so much happiness, and he was always happiest when surrounded by people.
“He was a devoted son, grandson and brother, as well as a much-loved friend. His beloved dog, Merlin, was a special part of his life, and it is heartbreaking that they have both been taken from us.
“There was only one Aaron. We miss his smile, his smile, his bear hug and his huge personality every day. The pain of losing him is impossible to put into words, and our lives will never be the same without him.
“The outpouring of messages, love, support and shared memories since Aaron’s death has shown how many lives he touched. We are truly grateful to everyone who has shared their memories and offered their support.
“We ask that our family be given the privacy and space to grieve and come to terms with this devastating loss. Aaron will be missed beyond measure by his family and many friends. We will always carry him with us and love him for the rest of our lives. Forever loved, always in our hearts.”
