Hundreds of people in Cambridgeshire are facing power cuts during Storm Boelo. UK Power Networks has confirmed 627 properties are without power across Cambridgeshire as of 12pm on Sunday (October 25).

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said its teams were working to restore supply “as quickly and safely as possible”. The Met Office has forecast windy, sunny spells in the east of England today (October 25).

The forecast says: “Remaining mostly dry with sunny spells, but windy. The odd shower may affect northern parts for a while. Strong winds all day, with coastal blowing. Winds will begin to ease overnight. Maximum temperature 12°C.”

The Met Office said this evening that the wind would “gradually ease to a light breeze”.

Along the busy B1095 near Farcet, towards Peterborough, road users were advised by Cambridgeshire Police to “drive with caution” as trees fell and power lines came loose.

A spokesman said: “Road users are advised to use caution on the B1095 near Farcet, towards Peterborough, due to a fallen tree and issues with loose power lines. If possible, please use an alternative route.”

A UK Power Networks spokesman said: “While Storm Boelo has caused some power cuts in Cambridgeshire, we are currently not seeing any widespread power problems across the county.

“Numbers may fluctuate as supplies are restored and new power cuts occur, and our latest confirmed figure is 627 properties without power. Our teams are working to restore supplies as quickly and safely as possible.”
