The biggest fight in British history has been almost a decade in the making and was finally given the green light last month after a decisive intervention in the negotiations by boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh.
After new doubts caused by the bitter rift between promoters Eddie Hearn and Dana White, proceedings began last week with a surprisingly friendly press conference in London, in which the two fighters expressed their respect and admiration for each other’s careers and talents.
There was a sprinkling of hostility when Fury, when asked by the host, told Joshua: “I’m number one, son. On December 11 you see Tyson Fury … you’re the landlord who can collect – and I don’t pay f*****g!”
The ensuing face-off, which ended with Joshua tickling and bickering his opposite number, dispelled any notion of real bad blood between the two fighters, who both now returned to their camps to get ready for fight night.
And that means it’s time for fans to make arrangements too.
Fury vs. Joshua will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2026. After initial plans to stage the mammoth match at Madison Square Garden in New York, it was finally confirmed to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
However, a recent request to Cardiff Council has revealed that ring walks for the main event are likely to come at 1am BST on Sunday morning to cater to a global TV audience live on Netflix.
The place is expected to stay open until about 3:30 am.
