A Hamilton man is facing charges following an alleged hit-and-run in Mississauga that killed a pedestrian on Tuesday.

Peel Regional Police said the fatal crash happened just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Winston Churchill Blvd. and Dundas St. W.
Police said the victim, a man in his 60s, died of his injuries at the scene.
Police said investigators have identified the suspect vehicle as a dark, two-tone 1999 to 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup.
Aubrey Lawrence, 69, was arrested Wednesday and charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Police said the suspect vehicle was impounded.
“Investigators believe the suspect interacted with another motorist in the parking lot of a nearby Home Depot shortly after the collision,” police said in a news release.
“Investigators are looking to speak with this individual as they may have information that could assist with the investigation,” police added.

Brampton tries to capture murder suspect in Manitoba
A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for an attempted murder in Brampton more than three years ago has been arrested in Manitoba, Peel Regional Police said Thursday.
Police said RCMP officers arrested Nakeem Jamar Johnson, 36, on September 22 in Cross Lake, Man.
He was transported back to Brampton where he was held for a bail hearing.
Police said he was wanted in connection with a shooting on February 3, 2022, in Queen St. E.-Rutherford Rd was searched. area where a man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police said investigators executed search warrants at multiple locations across the GTA and seized five firearms, approximately 10 kilograms of methamphetamine and “significant amounts” of fentanyl and cocaine.

A Canada-wide warrant was then issued for Johnson’s arrest.
He was charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a firearm, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of knowledge of unlawful possession, four counts of possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and four counts of possession of a prohibited device.

Cops said officers at the scene allegedly saw a man “actively destroying the interior of a residence” and negotiated with him to turn himself in.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Police said investigators searched the home and estimated over $100,000 in damage to the property.
They also found jerry cans filled with gasoline next to a damaged natural gas fireplace.
Police said gasoline was also found in other areas of the house.
Due to concerns that gasoline fumes could ignite and cause a significant explosion, police said the home’s gas supply and electrical power were shut off.
Police said neighboring homes were evacuated as emergency services worked to ventilate the residence and contain any hazardous conditions.
Injuries were not reported to the police.
Aaron Joseph Malone, 34, was charged with mischief over $5,000, arson, possession of incendiary materials for arson, mischief endangering life, and mischief not exceeding $5,000.

Whitby duo face firearms charges
A Whitby man and woman are facing multiple firearms charges following a weapons probe by Durham Regional Police.
Police allege that the two accused were in possession of a loaded firearm with a prohibited overcapacity magazine and on Wednesday in Dundas St. E. and Garden St.
Police said at the time of his arrest, the man was under conditions not to have weapons or cell phones and to remain at his residence at all times.
Isaiah Annis, 22, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a prohibited device, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a loaded firearm, and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.
Ajonnah-Schicksal Collins-Obrien, 19, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a prohibited device, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and possession of a loaded firearm.

Witnesses wanted in deadly Richmond Hill hit-and-run
York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses after a hit-and-run killed a 32-year-old woman last Thursday.
Police said officers responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle around 7:45 p.m. while at the intersection of Major Mackenzie Dr. E. and Spadina Rd.
Police said a passerby helped the injured woman at the scene. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not injured.
