Davina McCall has issued an urgent health warning after revealing heart disease following a cancer scare

The TV presenter, 58, revealed her cardiovascular disease diagnosis on the latest episode of her podcast, Begin Again, and urged listeners to check their blood pressure and cholesterol

Davina McCall has revealed that she has been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, adding to a series of health problems that have tested one of Britain’s most popular TV presenters.

Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast, Begin Again, the 58-year-old said she wanted to share the diagnosis publicly as part of a wider conversation about heart health, particularly among women, reports the Daily Star.

She said: “I wanted to let you know, I also have cardiovascular disease, and this is a very important conversation to have. Anyone can get sick and when I had my cancer experience, you just suddenly feel vulnerable in a way that you didn’t before… When you were sick, you think ‘Oh, I thought I was invincible’.”

Marking World Menopause Day, McCall teamed up with the British Heart Foundation to highlight the risks of cardiovascular disease in women. Although she did not discuss her own condition in detail, she urged people to seek medical checkups and take symptoms seriously.

She said: “Heart attacks and cardiovascular disease are rife out there, especially in postmenopausal women. If there’s one takeaway today, it’s not to wash things off. Get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked, and if something feels wrong, listen to your body.”

Back in 2021, fitness advocate Davina – who released a number of popular exercise videos in the 2000s – revealed she was facing heart disease risk.

She previously said: “When they said I had high cholesterol I just looked at my GP and asked if it was a mistake!”. Despite always maintaining a trim figure, Davina cut fat and cheese from her diet and swapped full fat for semi-skimmed milk – describing the change as a “big sacrifice”.

The former Big Brother host – who has Holly, 24, Tilly, 22, and Chester, 19 with ex-husband Matthew Robinson – was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in late 2024 before being told she had breast cancer less than a year later.

In April, she revealed that she had beaten cancer and praised her new husband, Michael Douglas, calling him the “kindest, smartest” man she has ever known for standing by her during her illness.

The couple married last December and celebrated with a second ceremony in July. She said: “I can’t believe I’m at this ripe old age, with everything I’ve been through, and was lucky enough to experience it with him by my side.

“He had just the right mix of real wisdom, knowing the right thing to say at the right time, but also just the right side of funny.”
