The Orchard Café in Scarborough town center will serve alcohol alongside its traditional range of pastries, cakes and lunch if North Yorkshire Council gives it the green light.
Coopland & Son’s request would allow the sale of alcohol from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
On Sundays, alcohol could be sold from 9:30am to 3:00pm for consumption on and off the premises at 71, Newborough.
The cafe is known for its hearty portions, traditional menu, and welcoming atmosphere.
Speaking when the cafe reopened in January, Sara McInnes, product and customer director, said: “We’re really excited to welcome everyone back to the cafe.
“Our chips and gravy have always been a customer favourite, so it wasn’t even a question of them having to be on the menu, and we teamed it up with some other great offers.
“We’ve moved things around to make it a more usable space for the community, so you’ll find a Kids Corner so mum and dad can enjoy a well-earned cuppa and a piece of cake while the kids play ‘shop’, as well as a specific dog-friendly area for those who want a delicious hot chocolate after a nice beach walk with their four-legged, quiet section, as well as for the four-legged friend.
Cooplands previously said the refreshed cafe would stay true to its roots while introducing some modern touches to appeal to both longtime fans and new visitors.
The deadline for members of the public to comment on the premises licensing plan is Tuesday, November 17.
